Most budgeting apps are built by engineers. This one was built by a researcher.
I studied why budgets fail. Then I designed one that doesn't.
I'm Alina — a UX designer with 17 years in enterprise SaaS, an MSc in Statistics, and a PhD candidacy in gamification. I once consolidated 54 legacy industrial applications into one platform. That project won a Red Dot Design Award.
But Eira came from a different question: why do people who want to budget keep quitting? I analyzed 127 real budgeting failures, dug into the behavioral science of habit formation, and realized the answer wasn't better spreadsheets. It was better game design.
Every mechanic in Eira — the 3-day review cadence, the companion coaching styles, the challenge types, the variable reward system — is grounded in research. This isn't gamification bolted on. It's gamification as the architecture.
